King David was founded in 1956 and is known as the grand old lady of the Western Cape golf course family. The course has emerged from her slumbers of yester year. King David has long had a reputation as one of the best layouts in South Africa. Bob Grimsdell designed King David with gentle rolling hills. This parkland course with each hole illustrating its own unique character and challenging all aspects of one’s game. Some of the holes are the best designed holes in the greater Cape Town. The character of some of these hole are just totally different from those of the other Cape Town courses. With Big Blue Gum trees lining most of the fairways, you as the player will have to plot your way well and carefully around this course. Over the years the club made some small and subtle alterations to this great design by Grimsdell, which is a great testament to the quality of the original design.

Gary Player and Lee Trevino once played a game here and Gary Player was quoted as saying that the par 3 12th hole is one of the best par 3s that he has ever seen, high praise indeed from a man who has won over 100 tournaments worldwide.

With spectacular views this course is a real must course to put on your golfing holiday to the Cape Town area. The atmosphere and fantastic service makes you fell tight at home at this gem. The course is very close to the Cape Town International Airport.
